Delete Your Jadegate Account

Effective Date: June 23, 2026 | Version v1.1

This page explains how users of Jadegate, operated by Jadegate Tech Limited, can request the deletion of their account and associated personal data. Because Jadegate provides wallet, payment, conversion, bill payment, KYC, and marketplace support services, some records may need to be retained after account deletion for legal, compliance, fraud prevention, security, accounting, or dispute resolution reasons.

Before You Request Deletion

For your protection and to prevent unsettled financial activity, Jadegate may require the following before accepting an in-app deletion request:

  • Your account password must be confirmed
  • Your Jadegate wallet balance must be zero
  • You must not have pending transactions, pending conversions, or processing bill payments
  • Any open dispute, investigation, compliance review, or legal hold may need to be resolved first

How to Request Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your Jadegate account using either of the following methods:

Option 1: In-App Deletion

Open the Jadegate app and navigate to your Profile page, then tap Delete Account. Follow the on-screen steps, enter your password when requested, and confirm the request. If the request passes the required checks, your account will be scheduled for deletion after the grace period described below.

Option 2: Email Request

Send an email to admin@jadegatetech.com from the email address linked to your Jadegate account, using the subject line Account Deletion Request.

Please include the following in your email:

  • Your full name
  • Your registered email address
  • Your registered phone number

Do not send passwords, OTPs, transaction PINs, BVN, NIN, card numbers, or identity documents by email unless Jadegate specifically asks you to provide information through a secure process.

Identity Verification

For your security, we may request additional verification before processing your deletion request. This helps us protect your account from unauthorized deletion requests.

Grace Period and Cancellation

Accepted in-app deletion requests are scheduled with a 7-day grace period. During this period, your account may be marked as pending deletion and access to some app features may be restricted.

You can cancel a pending deletion request in the app during the grace period. If you cancel before the grace period ends, your account will be restored to active status.

What Data May Be Deleted or Anonymized

Once your deletion request is verified, accepted, and finalized after the grace period, we may delete or anonymize the following data associated with your Jadegate account:

  • User profile and account access records held directly by Jadegate
  • Jadegate wallet records and dedicated virtual account details held in our systems, where not required for retention
  • KYC provider references, provider request payloads, provider response payloads, and failure reasons may be scrubbed or archived while retaining non-personal compliance metadata
  • Other personal records may be deleted or anonymized where deletion is technically and legally possible

Data That May Be Retained

As a regulated fintech platform, Jadegate is legally required to retain certain records even after an account is deleted. The following data may be retained where required by applicable law, regulatory obligations, anti-money laundering requirements, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or financial recordkeeping obligations:

  • Transaction records and payment history
  • Ledger entries, wallet funding records, conversion records, bill payment records, and refund records
  • KYC and identity verification records (BVN, NIN, and related documents)
  • Audit logs and compliance records
  • Records required for anti-money laundering (AML) compliance
  • Fraud prevention and security incident records
  • Marketplace, support, chat, beneficiary, notification, and dispute records where needed for legal, compliance, fraud prevention, or operational reasons
  • Records held by payment processors, KYC providers, bill payment providers, cloud storage providers, agents, or other third parties according to their own legal obligations
  • Records subject to ongoing regulatory investigations or disputes

Retention Period

Certain financial and compliance records may be retained for up to 5 years, or for such other period as required under applicable regulations, including guidelines issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).

All retained data is stored securely and accessed only where required for legal or regulatory purposes.

Processing Timeline

In-app requests that pass password, balance, and active-operation checks are typically scheduled immediately with a 7-day grace period. Final deletion occurs after the grace period if the request is not cancelled and no blockers appear.

Email requests, disputed requests, compliance reviews, third-party dependencies, or requests that require manual verification may take 7 to 30 business days or longer where required by law, regulators, payment partners, unresolved transactions, or disputes. You will receive a confirmation once your request has been completed where contact details remain available.
